I created this design company to raise awareness of the global refugee crisis and to support the efforts of the International Rescue Committee (IRC)—a relatively small group of people who, to me, represent the true heroes of the modern world. All of the thousands of employees and volunteers who work for the IRC have the same fundamental job description: to save the lives of entire families around the world each day. These selfless heroes cross into war zones to rescue and relocate the innocent, they charge into ravaged lands to aid the victims of natural disasters, and they rush toward the afflicted to supply food and medical assistance in regions abandoned by all others in the aftermath of unspeakable atrocities. The people of the IRC serve as the only source of hope for millions of refugees worldwide and the only example of true heroism for thousands of children first experiencing the world through the lens of armed conflict. I was inspired to dedicate my design efforts to supporting the IRC after I learned of the organization firsthand when, in the ordinary course of business, they changed my life forever. In 2004, the IRC helped relocate me and my family to our new home in America after we had spent fifteen years wandering the globe as refugees.
